Announcing the Data Science Community Conference and Events Fund

Code for Science & Society (CS&S) is thrilled to announce a new initiative - the Data Science Community Conference and Events Fund!

This fund will support conferences with direct support for events in the research-driven data science space -- centering on data tools, practices, and data communities that are born of the research community or heavily used in research. The objective of the fund is to administer small event-based grants in a way that is expedient, transparent, community-centered, and tracks impact.

This initiative is funded by a two year grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, who have long supported communities around open source software in scientific research. The initiative’s priority will be to develop governance and selection processes that are robust, sustainable, and centered on the research data science community.

With this initial support from Moore, CS&S will establish a fund of $400,000 USD to be awarded to conferences and events over two years. This grant also supports CS&S with a new, full-time staff person to manage and develop the fund. Our priority will be to develop governance and selection processes that are robust, sustainable, and centered on the research data science community.

CS&S is accepting applications for a Program Manager for the Data Science Community Conference & Events Fund. This is a full time, US-based, remote-friendly position -- check out the full job description here.
